Prolactin Increase - A Key to Infertility

There are many reasons for infertility. Some reasons involve complications from disease, dietary issues, and even ovulation irregularities. Perhaps one of the more common causes of infertility is excessively high levels of the hormone known as Prolactin. Known as Hyperprolactinemia, high Prolactin levels are found in 1/3 of infertility cases.
Why is Prolactin Important?
Prolactin is most integral in regulating lactation. When the baby suckles the mother's nipple, Prolactin is released and the breast fills with milk. Prolactin also affects a variety of other activities in both the woman's and infants body. Prolactin affects sexual satisfaction and arousal, surfacant synthesis of fetal lungs, and the infant immune system. Of course in relationship to infertility, higher Prolactin levels can trick the body into thinking that there is no need to ovulate, because the mother has already gone into the breast feeding phase.


Causes of Hyperprolactinemia

Pistachios for fertility

If you are anything like me, you love pistachios.  If you are trying to get pregnant and enhance your fertility, you are in luck!  Pistachios have a number of nutrients which enhance fertility and overall health. magnesium phosphorus and vitamins E, C and A.  It is also a rich source of iron, zinc, copper, manganese, amino acids and selenium all of which are good for fertility and hormone regulation.

1. Cell abnormality

Biotin acts as a co-factor with the other members in the vitamin B complex. It plays an important role in managing the body's cell growth. Without enough biotin, it causes cell growth abnormality such as the forming of perinatal cells into endometrial cell in the abdominal regions.
2. Poor blood circulation

Since biotin helps in gluconeogenesis, it regulates the sugar levels in the blood stream. Deficiency of vitamin E in women with endometriosis were also found to have anemia. It is caused by the faster than normal aging of red blood cells because of oxidative destruction of red blood cells.
d) Nervous system

Since we already known that vitamin E is essential for increasing the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen in the circulation system, it helps to nourish the brain cells fighting against symptoms of endometriosis such as mood swings, anxiety, and depression.
e) Hormone imbalance

Deficiency of vitamin E also interferes with normal functions of thyroid and pituitary glands causing the increase of levels of fatty acids resulting in endometrial menstrual cramps which in turn result in the over-production of certain prostaglandins hormones.
M. Vitamin K
I. Definition

Vitamin K was first discovered by Danish scientist Herrik Dam in 1929. It is a fat-soluble vitamin. It is best known for its ability of protein synthesis and blood coagulation. Dietary deficiency is extremely rare because it is produced by bacteria in the digestive system. Since it is fat soluble, it can be stored in our body and we do no need to take them regularly.
II. How vitamin K effects women with endometriosis

1. Nervous and circulation systems

Vitamin K helps to convert glucose into glycogen which is essential for improving the liver function in fighting against the forming of bad cholesterol accumulated in the blood stream causing high blood pressure, making transportation of oxygen more difficult to the body's cell, increasing the risk of heart disease and elevating tensions of nervous system. Glycogen can be stored in the liver, muscles, and can be used in case of deficiency.
2. Abnormal bleeding

Vitamin K also helps in production of prothrombin which is an important substance for blood clotting. Women with endometriosis were found to have vitamin K deficiency leading to heavier than normal bleeding during menstruation.
3. Immune system

Since vitamin K helps to strengthen the liver's function, indirectly it protects our body from environmental toxins that cause abnormal endometrial implants and adhesion growing somewhere else other than the endometrium as we mentioned in the other articles.
4. Cell Growth

Vitamin K is also said to be an important vitamin that helps to regulate the cellular functions including cell adhesion, cell proliferation, and protection against the cell's cytoskeleton to break up the membrane and bulge outward causing the loss of membrane asymmetry and attachment. Deficiency of vitamin K may cause an increase in the risk of irregularity cellular growth, such as endometriosis.
5. Anemia

Since vitamin K deficiency causes heavy bleeding for women with endometriosis adhered to the abdominal region leading to anemia as a result of depletion of red blood cells in the body or inability of the body to produce more red blood cell to cover the loss during menstruation

Getting pregnant with the law of attraction: Don't Ask, Why Can't I Have A Baby

If you've ever learned about the law of attraction, you probably know that what you focus on is what you will attract into your life.  If you are focused on the fact that you "can't have a baby", this may become a self fulfilling prophecy.  Instead, you need to believe that you can have a baby and that, even though you haven't succeeded yet, your baby is on the way.  If you are frustrated, angry, and jealous of others who seem to conceive at the drop of a hat, you are attracting those emotions a negativity to yourself.  This is not the right environment to get pregnant.

EFT and Tapping for getting pregnant

If you've never heard of EFT or tapping, you are not alone.  EFT is based on the principles of acupuncture and acupressure but it does not use needles and it is something you can do yourself.  It can be thought of ancient chinese medicine meets modern psychology. This is something I ran across when I was trying to conceive because I wanted techniques that were all natural and did not involve other paid professionals (since we had spent so much on fertility treatments already).  EFT involved tapping your body's meridians.
By tapping to release negative emotions, we clear energy blocks before they have time to affect the physical areas of our bodies which cause disease (including our reproductive system).

Mind-Body Fertility

The mind/body connection is sort of at the root of everything I believe about physical health, fertility, and just about everything else.  This is one reason I did meditation and visualization when I was trying to conceive (learn more about my meditation CD here: MEDITATION AND VISUALIZATION CD )

Think of it this way… If you tell your body that you want to have a baby, its job is to prepare. You will ovulate, your uterus prepares and creates a lining, and you might start eating a little bit more or feel a little more tired. This is your body’s way of preparing for what you asked from it. If you are sure that you want to get pregnant, then your body should cooperate with that mental affirmation and you will get pregnant. If there is any doubt in your mind, the chances lessen.

If you tell your body that you don’t want to have a baby, your bodies job is to make sure there is no secure place for an egg to plant itself. This doesn’t necessarily prevent conception, but even if it does occur, the egg has no where to grow and develop and is just pushed out with your period. Such as a ‘blight ovum’. If you are sure you don’t want to get pregnant, then your body should cooperate with that affirmation and your chances of getting pregnant become very low. If there is any doubt in your mind, the chances increase.

This would explain the occurrences when women get pregnant on birth control, or do not get pregnant without birth control. Or how a woman who found out about an unwanted pregnancy, might suddenly miscarry.

The idea is that you can tell your body what you want it to do, and it will do it. As long as you keep the affirmations going. Wanting to be pregnant should be clear in your mind, and you should repetitively tell your body that. If you don’t keep up the affirmation, your body might go back to its instinctual schedule and catch you off guard.\

Sharing information about your infertility

Infertility revolves around some very private bodily functions....most of which I don't discuss even with the closest of friends.  Let's face it, getting pregnant involves menstrual cycles, intercourse, sperm counts, ovulation, cervical mucus and so on.  There is also, for some people, the fear of public humiliation when you happen to become "that woman who can't have a baby".  If you also happen to be experiencing miscarriage, even though sympathy from others is well meant, it can drag up a lot of unwanted emotions.
