Wheatgrass For Pregnancy Over 40

I've heard about wheatgrass for years and how it can promote fertility. It seem like most green vegetables whether it's grass or anything else is great for your overall health as well.

Wheatgrass can do everything from lowering FSH to facilitating conception.  Wheatgrass is high in magnesium and it is a natural anti-inflamatory.  All of these things can help you get pregnant naturally.

Interestingly, wheatgrass can be used topically or by bathing in it, or it can be consumed as a drink. It is supposed to increase your red blood cell count.

If You're Trying To Get Pregnant, Make Water Part Of Your Diet

I'm sure you've heard the old come back when a bunch of people get pregnant at the same time, "There must be something in the water".
Well, actually it's not that there's something in the water, it may just be the water itself. Drinking a sufficient amount of water can enhance fertility by plumping up follicles, increasing cervical mucus, and facilitating the transport of hormones.

Pomegranates and Fertility

Pomegranates Help Protect Sperm And Male Fertility

Tell the man in your life that he might want to switch to pomegranate juice if you're trying to conceive.

My site: www.getpregnantover40.com

The article below talks about how pomegranates may help sperm count and motility. It is also a great source of vitamin C, polyphenols and isoflavones. Read more:

Pomegranate Juice Improves Fertility (www.laurelonhealthfood.com)

From the article:

Women’s Health Magazine reported on a new study from the journal Clinical Nutrition. Researchers found that pomegranate juice improved fertility markers in male rats (sperm count and motility). The potent antioxidants found in pomegranates may protect against damage to fatty acids found in sperm. I read some background information on the study over at Pub Med where they noted that “pomegranate fruit is inescapably linked with fertility, birth and eternal life because of its many seeds.” I never considered that before, but I thought it was very cool. Actually, it makes a lot of sense.

Pomegranates have also been found to lower systolic blood pressure and improve blood flow. They are also very high in vitamin C. Dr. Andrew Weil says the high amounts of polyphenols and isoflavones is pomegranate juice offer protection against prostate cancer. (Ref: Central Florida Natural Awakenings, June 2007, p. 34-37)

If you need a suggestion, POM juice is very good. I like to cut it in half with club soda because it’s very thick and tart. It also makes a good martini! I’ve also noticed that many grocery stores are selling 100% pomegranate juice in the frozen juice section

Herbs to Get Pregnant:  False Unicorn

I didn't use a lot of herbs when I was trying to conceive or pregnant aside from some herbal teas which I combined.
see also getpregnantover40.com for more on herbs for fertility
However there are a number of herbs that promote fertility. These sites talk about a herb called "false unicorn" and they explain how it can help.   If you're wondering why they call it false unicorn, it's because the plant resembles a unicorn's horn!  Of course, you should check with your doctor before taking anything when pregnant. From the article:

A treasured woman's botanical, false unicorn root's gently curved root, which resembles a unicorn's horn may be the source of its most common name. Used by Native American women to deter miscarriage, it is still widely used to treat a variety of problems unique to the female reproductive system. The root contains steroidal saponins which are precursors of estrogen.Steroidal saponin-containing herbs may normalize the luteal phase in women, making them useful for infertility which is associated with failure to ovulate.
