Pregnancy Test Sensitivity By Brand

I know how it goes, when you're trying to conceive, those pregnancy tests are what you live and die by. Not only do you stock up on them, but you want to start testing as early as possible. I've posted this topic before, but the following link seems to be more updated and it categorizes the pregnancy test brands by the amount of hCG needed to show a positive result. Read more:

www.fertilityplus.org

From the site:

In general, tests rated to detect the lowest hCG levels should be able to detect pregnancy sooner than those rated for a higher level. However, it is important to note that this chart rates the manufacturer's claimed sensitivity, not test accuracy. We did not do a laboratory analysis of the tests. Look below the FAQ for some site.

Auto-antibodies Cause Of Thyroid Problems

I've always known that thyroid disorders can be a cause of infertility and miscarriage. This article explains that the thyroid disorders themselves can be caused by an autoimmune process. Read more:

www.empowher.com

From the article:

A primary cause of hypothyroidism is the presence of so-called “auto-antibodies” that mistakenly attack the thyroid gland causing it to under produce its hormones, or in some cases, stimulate particular thyroid tissues to over secrete hormones.

Researchers do not understand why auto-antibodies develop, but an estimated five to eight percent of women carry auto-antibodies to the thyroid and are frequently not diagnosed with the problem until they try to become pregnant. Reproductive specialists are currently debating whether screening all pregnant women for hypothyroidism may be cost effective. A consensus will not be reached until ongoing studies are completed.

Fertility Awareness 101

The following article is a good "all around" resource when it comes to fertility awareness and the effect of diet, and other factors on fertility. You may be familiar with much of what is mentioned, however, it also gets into some other important information you may not be aware of. This site differs slightly from some of the things that did when I was trying to conceive (for example, they recommend discontinuing soy) however, it's still a good resource in my opinion.
