Trying To Have A Baby Over 40, Can You Trust Pregnancy Test Results?

If you're a "pregnancy test addict" like I was, you're probably doing your tests too early.
You're so anxious to get results that you test at the earliest possible moment. I did have some false negatives because of this.   As a matter of fact, the month I conceived my daughter, the first test was actually negative
(although I thought I saw a faint line when I looked through a magnifying glass!  I then did another test a few days later and it was definitely positive.
This article talks about a number of reasons why you may have a false negative pregnancy test. Read more:

More commonly, you can get a negative result from a home pregnancy test when you're actually pregnant. This is known as a false-negative. You may get a false-negative if you:

* Take the test too early. Wait to take the test until your period is at least one day late. That's the earliest most home pregnancy tests can detect pregnancy. For the most accurate results, take the test one week after a missed period.
* Time the test wrong. If you're collecting urine, do the test within 15 minutes of collecting the sample. And be sure to give the test time to work — but not too much time. You may want to set a timer according to the package instructions.
* Use diluted urine. Drinking too much fluid before taking the test may cause a false-negative result. For the most accurate results, take the test first thing in the morning when your urine is the most concentrated.

If your period hasn't started within a week after a negative home pregnancy test, repeat the test.

Having A Baby Over 40: Divine Timing?

Pregnancy Over 40...When The Time Is Right

And what is divine timing you ask?
My site: www.getpregnantover40.com
I thought I would repost a link about an Oprah show I saw a while back. She had a really good episode on the law of attraction and the use of vision boards. Cheryl Richardson was one of her panel guests and she said something that really struck a chord with me. She said that she believed in something called "divine timing". This is when things that you really want can take a very long time to come, but you have to believe that the universe will bring it to you when the time is right.
